“Will Bankhead aka What We aka ¡SKRIT! with a brilliant full spectrum mixtape harvested from all corners of his storied/storeyed collection.

Polarised from Japanese no wave to xenharmonic chamber strings, ‘Planks & Tablets’ is nevertheless filigree wrought with a logic that will emerge to the ear of the beholder. Devilish disco curios rub shoulders with distraught jazz blues, Hawaiian-sounding lapsteel segues glitch electronics and ethnological field recordings, grungy lament gives way to full blown noise terror and post rock, with heart-in-mouth keys leading the way to the end of side A. Side B keeps the bait ’n switch tekkerz in play with Flying Nun-type dream-pop nudging forlorn blues ballad, opening out into diaphanous guitar experiments and coming down to mired drones, slurring to a hypnagogic nub and what sounds like Les Vampyrettes on quaaludes, whilst reserving the right to slap from behind the ears with shrieking freak outs and melted amp out-rock.

Give your tape head a clean and crack on!”

Thanks Boomkat!
